The Wheels on the Tro-Tro

Marcy Gasperson & Chastity White

The wheels on the Tro-Tro go flat all time,
Flat all the time, flat all the time
The wheels on the Tro-Tro go flat all time,
All through the village

The brakes on the Tro-Tro go squeak, squeak, squeak

Squeak, squeak, squeak

Squeak, squeak, squeak

The brakes on the Tro-Tro go squeak, squeak, squeak
All through the village

The road under the Tro-Tro goes bumpety, bum, bump

Bumpety, bum, bump

Bumpety, bum, bump

The road under the Tro-Tro goes bumpety, bum, bump
All through the village

The horn on the Tro-Tro goes beep, beep, beep
Beep, beep, beep

Beep, beep, beep

The horn on the Tro-Tro goes beep, beep, beep
All through the village

The music on the Tro-Tro is Celine Dion,
Celine Dion, Celine Dion
The music on the Tro-Tro is Celine Dion
All through the village

The people in the market say, “Looking is free,

Looking is free, Looking is free”
The people in the market say, “Looking is free"
All through the village

The children on the street go, “O- brunyi,

O-brunyi, O-brunyi”
The children on the street go, “O- brunyi,"
All through the village

The brunyis on the Tro-Tro go up and down,
Up and down, up and down
The brunyis on the Tro-Tro go up and down
All through the village

Our day today at T.H.I.S. was great. Everyone spoke of how much they enjoyed their lessons and their students, as we do every day. We continued to interview our students and remind them about meeting their parents tonight at school. Break time is, as always, a favorite time. Some of us were forming armies, practicing Fante, or just getting to know as much as we can about the students we interact with.

This afternoon’s Fante lesson was cut short because parents began to arrive at the school. There are a total of seven pairs working in various classrooms. We had over half the parents show up, so we were very excited. We spent over two hours at T.H.I.S outside of our classrooms. The library was used as a quiet place to interview parents while others were playing with the students. Usually when school is over the school yard is empty, but not when we are in town! The children all know that we come back in the afternoons and they wait around to talk to us or just spend a little more time with us.

Dinner tonight was celebrated with Amanda’s birthday. The staff at the guest house brought in a cake and we all celebrated with cake and strawberry ice cream. Dr. Clerico then informed all of us about a few modifications to our schedule for the upcoming days, nothing too extreme just a little shifting around of events. Then we took turns sharing a favorite thing that has happened to us today or during our time here. It gave us all a chance to share and reflect on how we are not only teaching the students and teachers but they are teaching us.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding – Proverbs 3:5
