In just over one week we will be leaving on a jet plane for the continent of Africa and the beautiful country and people of Ghana! Sixteen of us from Charleston Southern University - current undergraduate education majors, CSU alums who are classroom teachers around South Carolina and in NYC, and two professors - will spend 5+ weeks engaged with teachers and students in two rural villages outside of the city of Cape Coast, Ghana.
We'll be teaching side-by-side with Ghanaian teachers in their classrooms, taking Fante language lessons, learning about Fante culture, and developing narrative biographies of the teachers and students with whom we work. We'll also spend a week traveling in northern Ghana visiting sites of historic and cultural significance.
For this incredible opportunity, we are grateful to the U.S. Department of Education's Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad program which is funding our endeavor among the friendliest people in all of West Africa.
